How to use the Pixel Font Generator
- Type your text. New lines are kept.
- Pick a font: Micro 3×5, Classic 5×7, Bold, Tall or Wide.
- Set alignment, letter spacing and line spacing; proportional spacing tightens narrow letters like i and l.
- Style it: fill or two-tone gradient, outline, drop shadow, optional background and padding.
- Choose a scale and download a transparent PNG, or download the whole font as a glyph sheet.
What you get
- Transparent PNG of the text at 1×–8×
- Glyph sheet PNG + JSON (character order, glyph size) for bitmap font loaders
Tips from making games with it
- Export at 1× when the text goes into a game and let the engine scale it. Use bigger scales for social posts and store pages.
- The stepped gradient uses whole rows of flat color, so it still looks like pixel art.
- Outline plus a one-pixel shadow in a darker tone of the outline gives the classic arcade title look.
- Micro 3×5 only has capitals. It's meant for tiny HUD numbers and labels.
Use cases
- Game titles and 'GAME OVER' screens
- HUD labels, damage numbers and buttons
- Pixel text for thumbnails, itch.io pages and social posts
- A starting bitmap font sheet for your engine
FAQ
Which characters are supported?
Classic, Bold, Tall and Wide include all printable ASCII characters (letters, digits, punctuation) plus ♥ and ★. Micro 3×5 has capitals, digits and common punctuation; lowercase is shown as capitals.
Can I use the text commercially?
Yes. The glyphs were drawn for this site and the images you export are yours to use in any project.
Can I get the font itself?
You can download a glyph sheet PNG with a JSON file listing the character order and glyph size. Most engines can load that as a bitmap font.
Why does my text look blurry in my engine?
The engine is filtering the texture. Set the texture filter to nearest/point and scale by whole numbers.
Does it support other languages?
Only the Latin ASCII set for now. Unsupported characters render as a question mark.
