How it works

From idea to animated sheet in three moves

  1. 01

    Describe or upload

Type what you want, or drop in a sketch or a reference character. Pick a style: 16-bit, GBA, NES, Game Boy, HD pixel or your own palette.

  2. 02

    Pick a motion

Choose from the motion library: idle, walk, run, attack, cast, die and more. Every motion was captured once on a mannequin, so your character moves like a real animation, not a guess.

  3. 03

    Export and ship

Get a transparent, pixel-locked sprite sheet with frame data. Download PNG + JSON, GIF, frames ZIP, Godot SpriteFrames, Aseprite JSON, TexturePacker / Phaser JSON or CSS sprites.

The motion library

Real motion, not frame soup

Most AI animators invent every frame from scratch, so arms grow and feet slide. We capture each motion once on a neutral mannequin, lock the timing and the foot contacts, and then dress your character onto it. The result loops cleanly and keeps the same silhouette from frame to frame.

Everything you need

One studio for every 2D game asset

Text to sprite

Characters, monsters, NPCs, props and pickups from a single prompt, on a transparent background.

Sprite animation

Walk, run, attack, jump, cast, hurt, die. Looping cycles and one-shots with correct timing.

4 & 8 directions

Top-down and isometric turnarounds that keep the same character from every angle.

Tilesets

Seamless top-down and side-scroller tiles: grass, dungeon, cave, snow, sci-fi.

Edit and inpaint

Change the sword, fix a hand, recolor the armor. Edit one frame or the whole sheet.

Style reference

Upload your existing art and new sprites follow its palette, outline and proportions.

Items and icons

Weapons, potions, loot and inventory icons that share one palette.

Game UI

Buttons, health bars, frames and HUD pieces that match your sprites.

Video to sprite

Turn real footage or a generated clip into a clean, keyed, looping pixel sheet.

Palette lock

Every frame snaps to the same palette, so nothing flickers between frames.

API and MCP

Generate from your own code, or straight from Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.

12 languages

The whole product in English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, Русский, Türkçe and العربية.

Questions, answered

What is AI Sprite Maker?

AI Sprite Maker is an AI sprite generator for game developers. You describe a character or upload a reference, choose a pixel-art style and a motion, and get a transparent sprite sheet that loops cleanly and imports straight into Godot, Unity, GameMaker, Phaser and other engines.

Is it free?

You get 30 free credits when you sign up and 10 more every day you come back, with no credit card. That is enough for 15 sprites or a few animations. All 32 browser tools are free forever and don't need an account.

Can I use the sprites in a commercial game?

Yes, on any paid plan. You own the outputs and can sell games that use them. On the free plan, outputs are for personal and non-commercial projects. The full terms are in our Commercial License.

How is this different from other AI sprite generators?

Three things. Animations come from a library of motions captured on a mannequin, so they loop and keep their proportions. Every action has a fixed, visible price in credits. And the whole product is available in 12 languages.

What sizes and styles are supported?

Frames from 32 to 512 pixels depending on your plan, in presets like 16-bit, GBA, NES, SNES, Game Boy, HD pixel, chibi and isometric. You can also cap the palette (for example 16 colors) or upload your own art as a style reference.

Which export formats do you support?

PNG sprite sheet with JSON frame data, animated GIF, a ZIP of individual frames, Godot SpriteFrames (.tres), Aseprite JSON, TexturePacker / Phaser JSON and CSS sprite classes.

Do I need to know pixel art?

No. Results come out pixel-locked and ready to use. If you do know pixel art, you can edit any frame, swap palettes, or export to Aseprite and keep working there.

Do you have an API or MCP server?

Yes. The Pro and Studio plans include a REST API and a remote MCP server that works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and other MCP clients. API calls use the same credits as the web app.

What happens to unused credits?

Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle. Credit packs never expire. Daily free credits are valid for the day they are given.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel from your billing page and keep your plan until the end of the period. First-time subscribers who used less than 20% of their credits can get a full refund within 7 days.
