Every AI generation costs credits. The free browser tools cost nothing. The price of each action is fixed, the same on every plan, and shown on the Generate button before you click.

What each action costs

ActionCredits
Still sprite, character, item, tile or UI piece2 per image
Edit, inpaint or recolour an existing sprite2
Library animation (walk, run, attack…), per direction10
4-direction turnaround8
8-direction turnaround14
Seamless tileset (up to 16 tiles)6
Custom motion that isn’t in the library30
Video or GIF to sprite with AI cleanup5 per second of footage
Free browser tools at /tools0

A library animation costs a flat 10 credits per direction, even when we have to draw the character first from your text description. Turnarounds and custom motions started from text add 2 credits for drawing the character; reuse one from “My sprites” to skip that.

Worked examples

  • One NPC, idle in 4 directions: 4 × 10 = 40 credits.
  • A top-down hero with idle, walk and attack in 4 directions: 3 motions × 4 directions × 10 = 120 credits.
  • A side-scroller enemy with walk, hurt and death (1 direction each): 3 × 10 = 30 credits.
  • Four variations of a potion icon: 4 × 2 = 8 credits.

Where credits come from

SourceHow manyExpires
Daily free credits10 every day you’re signed in00:00 UTC the same day
Sign-up credits30, onceDon’t expire while your account exists
Plan creditsStarter 1,000, Pro 2,500, Studio 7,500 per monthEnd of each billing period
Credit packs400, 1,300 or 4,000Never

Yearly plans add a month’s plan credits each month, not the whole year up front.

The order credits are spent in

We always spend the credits that expire soonest first, so you lose as little as possible:

  1. daily free credits;
  2. plan credits;
  3. sign-up and promotional credits;
  4. pack credits, last.

Your dashboard shows the daily, plan and pack balances separately. Behind them is a ledger that records every grant, charge and refund, so if a number ever looks wrong, email us and we can trace it.

Reserve, charge, release

When you click Generate we reserve the most the job can cost. When it finishes we charge what it actually used and release the rest. If the job fails, is blocked by moderation, or you cancel it before it produces anything, the whole reservation is released. You never pay for a failed job, and you don’t have to ask.

If a job finished but the result is clearly broken (empty frames, a cut-off sheet, the wrong motion), email hello@aispritemaker.com with the job ID and we’ll restore the credits.

What a credit is worth

Where the credit came fromValue per credit
Starter planabout $0.009
Pro planabout $0.008
Studio planabout $0.007
Smallest pack$0.013

So a one-direction animation is roughly $0.09 on Starter and $0.076 on Pro.

Running out

When your balance is lower than a job’s cost, the Generate button tells you how many credits you need. You can wait for tomorrow’s daily credits, buy a pack that never expires, or upgrade. Unused plan credits don’t roll over, so if you regularly finish the month with credits left, a smaller plan plus a pack may be cheaper.
